Summerland Spirit Festival is a nine-day experiential spiritual retreat for followers of an Earth-reverent spiritual path. Nestled within several square miles of wild forest, you will have the chance to heal, reconnect with nature, and make a lot of new friends. Welcome the dawn from the high peak of the hill covered with apple trees, cool off in the pristine creek that runs through the heart of the festival, dance and drum all night long in the middle of an old-growth hardwood forest, or take some time away to be alone with the abundant wildlife.
You will have the option of attending any of the several amazing workshops scheduled each day, or you can take a class on one of the crafts being offered by several artisans, such as blacksmithing, tatting, knitting, leather working, or stone carving. You can also take a relaxing innertube ride down the creek that winds through the woods. Each day you will have the option of attending a large community ritual, smaller group rituals, or to do workings of your own at one of the several locations intended for quiet personal work. At night, there will be live musical entertainment, drumming and dancing, and a bardic circle to share stories and song. Although there is a lot to do, you won't feel pressured to attend anything. These are only offered as options. The most important goal is for you to feel re-energized, refreshed, and renewed as you drive away at the end of the festival.

Magical Educational Council was established for the following purpose: to create community by promoting the sharing of knowledge, experience, and fellowship among people who follow mystical and esoteric traditions. In order to promote community, we do not include those paths or traditions whose doctrines advocate bigotry and / or violence against others on any basis including but not limited to race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion.
MEC is the sponsor of ConVocation, which is a convention of the many mystical spiritual paths and faiths and the people that follow them who desire to teach each other and promote fellowship among all esoteric traditions. Since 1995, this 4-day event has brought together over 100 classes and rituals presented by local instructors, internationally renowned guest speakers and authors. Along with workshops, ConVocation offers over 40 tables of merchandise in our Merchant Room, an Art Show and the largest indoor Drum Circle in the Midwest.
MEC is also the sponsor of the Pagan Picnic which happens in June; come out and join us for some food and conversations and “Beyond the Veil,” a Samhain event which happens in October. Check the mec-mi.org website for more details.

It has been more years than most of us care to count since members of the Covenette banded together to put on the first Ball. In 1995 the union of the Covenette and her sister coven formed Cov/42 Productions. This joining allowed the Witches’ Ball tradition to grow into the amazing event that it is today.
We have had some members come and go, we’ve had different names, different structures and different venues, but we are still working hard to bring you the best party in town!
This event that grew from a few friends gathering to celebrate has become something the entire community comes together for year after year. Every Ball brings something different with new themes that drive each event in a unique direction.
Over the years, as the Ball has grown, so has the Committee which brings this marvelous event to you. The Committee is a reflection of our wonderful community; as the community changes so do we.
We encourage you to enjoy yourselves on this October evening. This night is for the community and for each and every one of you. Celebrate the night, celebrate friendships old and new, celebrate the community of which you are a part.
That is the spirit of the Ball! So to all of you, those who have come and those who have gone and to everyone that has celebrated with us-
